Employment Insurance (EI)

Employment Insurance (EI) provides temporary financial assistance to unemployed Canadians while they look for work or upgrade their skills. It also offers special benefits to those who are sick, pregnant, caring for a newborn or newly adopted child, or caring for a seriously ill family member. To qualify, individuals must have paid into the EI program and meet specific criteria, including a minimum number of insured hours of work. EI benefits ensure that Canadians can maintain financial stability during periods of unemployment or when they need time off for personal or family reasons.

Canada Child Benefit (CCB)

The Canada Child Benefit (CCB) is a tax-free monthly payment made to eligible families to help with the cost of raising children under 18 years of age. The amount of the CCB is based on the number of children in the family, their ages, and the family's income. This benefit aims to provide financial support to families, reducing child poverty and ensuring that children have access to the necessities of life. The CCB can be a significant source of income for low- and middle-income families, helping to cover expenses such as childcare, education, and basic needs.

Old Age Security (OAS)

The Old Age Security (OAS) pension is a monthly payment available to most Canadians aged 65 and older. It is funded by the Government of Canada and is designed to provide a basic level of income for seniors. Eligibility is based on age, legal status, and years of residence in Canada. In addition to the basic OAS pension, there are additional benefits such as the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) for low-income seniors and the Allowance for those aged 60 to 64 whose spouse or common-law partner is eligible for the GIS. These benefits ensure that Canadian seniors can enjoy a secure and dignified retirement.
